Bundoran Press

Pleased to see ORU short story Making History, making a fresh appearance on the web. "Making History" features events at the beginning of the new order (Arbiter Administration), on the Reetion side of the ORU. It is set post-Killing War, and explains how Reva, the founder of the Arbiter Administration, connected with Ameron and his father, Avatlan, during the Killing War. Making History first appeared in issue 2006.05 of FutureFire. I thought Organdi had gone away when I submitted it to Futurefire.net. Guess I'll have to get in touch with both magazines to see if they are okay with multiple manifestations. I am, of course. It is very webbish.

>HI Brianna
>I have loved Amel since I first read Courtesan Prince and then devoured the
>other novels and shorts just to see a bit more of him. He is the ultimate
>human. He is such a great character with his contradictions; completely
>humble in spite of his perfect genealogy and as empathetic as a mother with
>his history of abuse, his doubts about his own skills when he is always
>more than capable. He remains so attractive in spite of his lack of
>traditional male hero attributes that he actually becomes more of a hero
>than they could ever hope to be. His beauty is a hindrance to him rather
>than an asset but it reflects what he actually is to all of his fans out in
>the real world, a beautiful hunk of a guy. I know his fate is always
>complicated and convoluted but when Amel is vindicated all of us who have
>ever suffered feel vindicated as well. He is goodness overcoming the dark
>side in spite of his fears and doubts. His weaknesses allow us to feel his
>pain and his gains yet he is so very much more than all of us. With his
>great big heart he is always giving more than he takes. Amel is a beautiful
>human and I will always love him.
>Thanks for the wonderful website
>Patsy

Bundoran Press

A new press launched its first book at VCON this year, masterminded by Virginia O'Dine, a friend of mine and the Okal Rel Universe. Below are pictures of Virginia and Karl Johnson, at VCON, in October 2006 where they launched the first book from Bundoran Press -- the Best of Neo-Opsis.

VCON short report

Had a blast at VCON this year. Went with my writer-daughter Jennifer Lott and our artist-friend Brianna Thomas. Did a LOT of driving back and forth to where we were staying and other needful destinations that meant I missed more than I would have liked. But happy about any "face time" I got in with friends. Scored one of Virginia O'Dine's anthologies Best of Neo-Opsis -- congrats Stephanie and Karl! Did the writer's workshop. Pleased by the Okal Rel Universe panel event on Friday night. Great panels in general, I thought, although I just realized when I unpacked that I've failed to fill out any of the evaluation forms Fran Skene included in our packages. Got in an interview with the community radio station present. Enjoyed every minute I managed to spend on the EDGE booth with Anita and Brian. Saw the new Commander's Log footage from Craig Bowlsby. Took lots of pictures that will trickle out onto the "Reality Skimming" for weeks to come. Much thanks to Fran Skene and the VCON volunteers for making it possible.

Amanda Da Silva Back in Town

News flash! I saw Amanda Da Silva (author of one of the stories in the first anthology) in town last night, having coffee at Starbucks. She's moving back! So glad. She's a person in a million for combining hard work, generosity and talent. Naturally I am out to rope her into doing more fiction with us.

Teen Amel by Brianna done in the Sims

Brianna's Amel fan site is up! It is still in development so beware of links that land in limbo. But delightful to behold. Much pleasure and gratitude, Bri. Amel is bashfully delighted.
