Marie Jakober wins 2002 Michael Shaara Award for Excellence in Civil War Fiction

Marie Jakober, whose books and company I enjoy, has received the 2002 Michael Shaara Award for Excellence in Civil War Fiction.. As I pointed out to her via e-mail, that makes fields in which she has triumphed. Her first book, Sandinista (1985), which won the 1985 Writer's Guild of Alberta Novel Award, was contemporary, well-researched fiction. Her historical fantasy novel Black Chalice (2000) became a book of the month Sci Fi selection as well as winning three awards. History is the common theme. History in the making, alternative history with magical elements and now the civil war period. Congratulations Marie!
