Michael Armstrong moves on

Saddened to know Prince George's one and only Michael Armstrong will be moving on this summer. It is our loss and Lax Kw'Alaams' gain. Last heard Michael perform at the Midsummer Festival in Smithers just last week, performing his poetry in the "lead singer" role, backed up by the Vinyl Groove. I think I have heard "Catch is Never Just Catch" at least three times now, and it is still fresh every time. Extract from Michael's e-mail below. I know he will be missed by his drama students as well.

I will be moving in early August to Lax Kw'Alaams (Port Simpson), a Tsimshian community on the north coast near Prince Rupert. I have been offered a very
interesting teaching job there. I understand that I will be able to see the sunset over the Pacific Ocean every night (except those nights when it's raining) from
my livingroom window.

Michael contributed an extract of his play, "Dancing in the Air", to Reflections on Water, and also served as guest editor for the March 2001 Edition

Yet Another Book Review Site

Found a Dave Duncan interview at Yet Another Book Review Site. It's from 2001 but all things are current on the web, to she who finds them.

Jet Set Month

This month, I am a member of the jet set. Glad it is temporary. Sleeping in hotels more often than my home and flying twice a week is not, I have decided, something I would seek out in a life style. But if I have been oddly silent lately, that's why. Trying to juggle the home front, including a course in progress, with a full "away" schedule. Back to Vancouver tonight. But things clear up a bit come Tuesday and get properly sane by July 1.

At least the hotel stints gave me a chance to get into the draft you entrusted me with, Alison. Enjoying it. But keeping the details sparse, here, as a courtesy since I know you are "in process" with said draft on professional fronts. Cheers!

Blogging Article in WORDWORKS

Delighted to find my "Blogging for Writers" article featured on the cover of the Winter 2003 Word Works magazine when I touched down at home for the weekend in the midst of a wacky month. I remember witing the article of course, but had quite forgotten the B.C. Writers Federations would be publishing it. :-O Thus is life full of wonderful surprises for me, always. Mind like a steel sieve. :-)
