I had only just barely got to know Schelly Steelman, a fellow author and member of the Broad Universe. She contacted me with a request to review her next book, which I had agreed to do for the new year. We exchanged a few e-mails only last week. Today, I saw a notice on the Broad Universe mailing list from her husband, Joe, informing us of her death. She was looking forward to the release of The Blue Towers, the book I will still review as planned by Jan. Her commitment to her writing is an inspiration to all of us who care about our art.
