Mel has written some interview questions for Di Mon and Ranar, and some others, and I have got them to provide answers (some of them under duress). They are on the ORU site in the Fun Stuff section.
Although I failed to convey the difference between First Expansion collaborators and fan wrting (see my Northern Log article for that story) effectively enough to stick, it was nonetheless an honor for the ORU phenomenon to appear in the Quill and Quire as a feature of Hades Publications. Many thanks to Stuart Woods, and to Edge for supplying the cover art.

I'm not sure what this means, but I was intrigued by the "import" bit. The prize certainly suggests shipping would be involved!

Saga cover artist, Lynn Perkins, reports seeing two ORU titles in a Barnes and Noble bookstore in New Jersey! I never get over the thrill of discovering the "children" are out in the world on shelves where they can make new friends. :-)

Do other people get the feeling they have lived not one, but a series of overlapping lives? My friend KP (Kathy Plett) who has always been a model to me of what a real librarian does and cares about, recently unearthed a detail from my years at the College of New Caledonia where she heads up the library. Naturally, I've obscured personal details for myself and my colleagues during this incarnation.

Gratified to be mentioned by Dean of Canadian SF, Robert Sawyer, in his Jan 8 post about the Quill and Quire. Now I have to lay hands on this edition of Quill and Quire to see the article on Edge by Stuart Woods.

First installment of ORU column "Thoughts from Another Universe" appeared in the debut edition of the UNBC arts journal The Northern Log. The article was called "Artwork by Any Other Name" and discussed the 'contribute at will, get paid when it fits the economic model' approach to giving creative folks who like the ORU a creative role to play without getting hung up on the distinctions between fan and pro supporters. Art needs a place to breath and play.

Righteous Anger has been nominated for the Carl Brandon Society Award. Must be in the second category "The Carl Brandon Kindred Award is given to any work of speculative fiction dealing with issues of race and ethnicity; nominees may be of any racial or ethnic group. This Award includes a $1000 cash prize." In any case, a great honor.

In the department of "isn't it amazing how things get around on the web", google alert recently led me to a site called Science Fiction Awards Watch that has got the nomination for Part 2: Righteous Anger of the ORU Saga's 2007 Aurora entanglement listed. It was short listed. Always a bridesmaid and never a bride. Keeps me humble.

Resolved to look after myself better in 2009 and aspire to that optimal work/life balance.
Some news I hope to blog better later:
- SFFaudio has listed a CBC interview of mine. I've asked Justyn of Edge if he can notify them of the On The Edge podcasts, as well.
- Part 3: Pretenders, was listed on LISwire, the librarian site, back in September 2008.
- My first installment of "Thoughts From Another Universe" appeared in the Jan 5, 2009 edition of The Northern Log, Volume 1, Issue 1. This innovative and ambitious journal is run by Joshua Laurin, General Manager; Davin Helkenberg, Editor in Chief; Roy P. Toomey, Board Member; with contributors D.L. Hurke, Devin Girard, Jeremy Stewart, Lynda Williams, Rob Budde, Rob Bryce and Roy P. Toomey.
