Publisher Brian Hades confirmed four new Okal Rel Legacies titles at August 2011 conference in Calgary, When Words Collide: Opus 6 anthology, and three novellas. Novella authors are Hal Friesen, Craig Bowlsby and Lexie Pakulak. All three authors have previously published in earlier Opus anthologies. The Okal Rel Legacies series is published by Absolute XPress, an imprint of Hades Publications. The Okal Rel Saga novel series by BU member Lynda Williams is published by Edge Science Fiction and
Fantasy Publishing, which is also an imprint of Hades Publications. Cover art work for the new books will be by Michelle Milburn with story sketches commissioned from Richard Bartrop. For details see http://okalrel.org/wanted/

Shot of new cover for Horth in Killing Reach and two stages in the development of Part 7: Healer's Sword covers feature on website of artist Michelle Milburn. Also the lovely cover of the next book in Nathalie Mallet's Prince Amir Mystery Series, in which her hero wanders a quasi-historical world, troubled by magic, after escaping his gilded cage. Gotta get that one! Enjoyed the first two in the series.

Karl Johanson, editor of Neo-opsis sci-fi magazine, just e-mailed me about this picture from VCON 2010 featuring post-duel fooling around at VCON 2010 in Vancouver. The event was an Okal Rel Universe duel staged by fencers Craig Bowlsby and Devon Boorman. You can see Craig and Devon in the background.

With luck, the picture will make Karl's collection of interesting stuff for the annual Neo-opsis CD.

Great poster by artist Michelle Milburn for title challenge match to be featured at the Okal Rel Universe event at VCON, Saturday Oct 2, 7 p.m. Fencing instructors Devon Boorman and Craig Bowlsby will square off in a featured clash of titans. We'll also be giving away character cards, Okal Rel buttons, singing a few Okal Rel filk songs and launching Avim's Oath, Book 6 in the series, by Lynda Williams; as well as Opus 4 collection of stories set in the Okal Rel Universe and Okal Rel novella Misfit Leaves Home by Krysia Anderson.

Here's a shot of me at the EDGE booth, at VCON 33 in Vancouver this past weekend. I'm holding up one of 50 special pre-publication copies of Horth in Killing Reach by Craig H. Bowlsby, created just for VCON. Many thanks to video maven Stephen St. Laurent for taping the Righteous Anger book launch at the P.G. Public Library and making this video clip for me afterwards. The clip includes a cameo picture of Craig Bowlsby, fencing advisor for Righteous Anger, and footage of the fencing demo put on by Phil Clark and his comrades.
